Hello. We are Laura and Mark Moon. Silly, happy, and caring are just a few words to describe us. We are looking forward to connecting with you. Please visit our profile for more information about us.
Hello there. We are Laura and Mark Moon from Lawrenceville, Georgia. We want to start by saying how courageous we think you are in considering open adoption. We admire your strength and that strength, can only exist because of the immense love you have for your child. We want to wish you peace during your journey to find the right family for your child. If you think your path may lead to us, feel free to contact us any time.
We met in high school, 14 years ago. We did not really know each other well until we reconnected at a party in college. That party was in July 2001, we were married in July 2006. We have been together and in love ever since that wonderful evening.
We enjoy spending time together taking walks, making meals, and reading together. Our lives are full of love and laughter and we can’t wait to share that with our child.
Why I Love Laura
Laura is honest and deeply caring. She laughs often and her smile has always seemed to brighten the room for me. As a teacher, Laura has developed a love of reading and is very patient with children. I am so excited to watch out child’s eyes brighten and laughter fill the room as Laura reads them a story and passes on her own passion. She will be a great mother with her tender heart and passion for life.
Why I Love Mark
Mark is a kind and loving husband. He is hilarious and always makes me laugh. Mark is easy going and patient. Mark is a teacher of Social Studies and I know that our child will share his love of history. Mark loves to be outside and I can see him playing in the yard with our child, both with big goofy grins. Because of these things and a million more Mark will be a wonderful father.
We live in a family oriented neighborhood in Lawrenceville, Georgia. There are always kids outside playing, riding bikes, or playing all types of sports. We have a nice yard for our child to play in and we live very close to several parks that have playgrounds.
We live with miles of Atlanta, where there are several fun activities to do. We can imagine our child’s laughter as we get splashed by the dolphins at the Georgia Aquarium, the look on his or her face when smelling the flowers at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, or their excitement when cheering on our team at the Georgia Dome.
We share our home with our two cats, Kozar and Vick, who love to sleep in the sun and snuggle in the pillows on our bed. We look forward to snuggling up with our child and the cats and read a good book.
Interests and Hobbies
We are both readers. We love to read and we often read aloud to each other. Our child will share in our love of reading by listening and telling stories just like mommy and daddy. We both love to be out doors. Whether we are walking or planting flowers, we like to do these things together. Mark likes to run outdoors and Laura likes to roller skate. We cannot wait to run or skate around with our child in the stroller and enjoy what the outdoors has to offer.
We are both very into sports. Whether we are cheering on the Gwinnett Braves, the Atlanta Braves minor league team, or cheering on our favorite NFL teams. We are looking forward to sharing fun at the Gwinnett Braves which is just miles from our home, with our child. We both have summers off and love going to the beach. We can’t wait to build sand castles and play in the salty ocean water with our little one.
Our parents are very eager for our adoption. This would be the first grandchild for Laura’s parents, and Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Anne are really excited. They live about 15 minutes away and are looking forward to babysitting. There are two sets of grandparents on Mark’s side of the family. Grandma Melinda and Grandpa Mickey live about thirty minutes away so visits will be easy. Grandpa Billy and Grandma Brenda also live close by to lend a hand. We are very lucky to have so much family close by and I know that our child will be showered with affection and loved by all.
Laura has a very special connection to adoption. Her grandmother, Dorothy, and her Uncle Chris were adopted through closed adoptions. We have spoken to Laura’s grandmother often about her adoption, hearing about her experience and the questions that she still has is one of the reasons that we decided on an open adoption. We are encouraged that our child will grow up knowing his or her birthfamily from the start and we are so happy that you are considering open adoption. We have so many family members that live close-by, and we are looking forward to passing on our family traditions and customs. We are looking forward to passing on our family traditions and customs. We cannot wait for the Sunday brunches with our parents and reading The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve just like Laura’s mom used to do. We are equally excited to start some traditions of our own with our little one.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about us. We would love to speak with you and hear about what you hope and wish for your child. We look forward to an open adoption and welcoming you into our lives and building a relationship. Please contact us anytime.
With peace and love,
Laura and Mark Moon
