About Us

In December of 2005 Eric and I met working together at an architecture firm in New York City. We were assigned to the same project and quickly hit it off as co-workers, friends and soon as a couple. Eric was smart, dependable, kind, and funny. I admired his loyalty and dedication to work. He admired my positive energy, passion and enthusiasm for everything I did. We slowly learned we had a lot in common. We liked the same kind of music and loved going to concerts, we lived in the same neighborhood in Brooklyn, and we both loved Vietnamese food (well, food in general!) A little over a year after meeting we went on our first date.

For our first date we had agreed to set aside a Sunday afternoon to hangout, but didn’t plan any further than that. On Sunday morning I was delighted that Eric called first thing in the morning with a plan for the afternoon. He said he would drive by my apartment to pick me up; we’d head to the grocery store, buy food, and head back to my place to cook lunch. I loved the simplicity of his plan; even though we had known each other for a while as co-workers, we never spent quiet time together alone and this seemed like the perfect first date. I was excited, but also a little bit nervous. What would I cook for him? Again, I was pleasantly surprised when Eric took the reins. He suggested making penne ala vodka with chicken and moved through the store confidently gathering all the ingredients. I remember the rest of the afternoon being like that, just relaxed and easy, helping Eric out when he needed something chopped, washed or mixed. We can’t really even remember what we talked about, we just remember being happy in each others company and excited to be taking our relationship to a more intimate level. To this day we love spending time together. Even the simple moments in life, cooking on the weekends, running errand, watching TV, we have fun being around one another. Eric always has a way of lightening the mood and making me laugh. We have a really fun life together, filled with lots of laughter and so much love. We are excited to bring a child into this mix and to share with them all our love, laughter, and joy.

About Kelly

I was born and raised in New Jersey about 30 miles outside New York City. I am the middle of three daughters. I've always lived on the east coast except for the two years I lived in Michigan while in graduate school. From there I thought maybe I’d continue west to start up a furniture design studio and paint in the beautiful desert light. Instead NYC called me back. I was glad to be back home near my family and friends. Especially now as I think about being a Mom. I couldn't imagine my child growing up and not being surrounded by his or her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

I'm an avid reader. Science-fiction, non-fiction, mysteries, biographies, I love them all. It started young with trips to the library. My mom used to take me and my sisters on rainy summer days. I'd bring home my books and sit by the screen door in the family room and read and listen to the rain. When my older sister went to college I remember leafing through her books especially if they had maps. I'm a sucker for maps. Today, I have books in every room of the house. I can't wait to have a little one to cuddle with and read to and one day share my love of reading and learning.

I'm an exhibition designer and work for an art museum in NYC designing the fixtures and displays needed to exhibit the art work. Through my work I've had the opportunity to meet and work with artists from all over the world. As an eternal learner, this is the perfect job for me, plus I have the added bonus of a flexible work schedule.

About Eric

I was born in a suburb of Erie, Pennsylvania where I grew up in a quiet, small town until the middle of high school, when I moved with my younger brother and sister to my mom's apartment in Queens, NYC. I am extremely close with my brother and sister. It was a big change for us moving from such a small place to the big city. But I have grown to love NYC and have lived here ever since, outside of my college stays in upstate NY for undergrad and graduate school where I received a Bachelor of Fine Art and then a Master of Architecture degree. New York City has been a big part of forming who I am. My younger days here were spent skateboarding through different neighborhoods, playing shows at various venues (even sang/played at CBGB's), and exploring all the great things this city has to offer. It was a hard transition, but my calm and friendly nature has helped in making great friends and relationships here. Some of my closest friendships are from this period and I really consider them my extended family.

Although I am a little older now and surfing instead of skateboarding, I’m still writing songs and playing music, and still love exploring. I was lucky to meet Kelly and now get to explore the city through her love of art and design, while also being able to plan adventures to places like the beaches of Costa Rica or Puerto Rico. Most of my family and close friends are having kids; my brother has three that I adore and I'm a godfather to Kelly's sister's second son. A lot of our free time is spent with family and friends, enjoying the company of their little ones. I look forward to beginning a new chapter in my life by starting a family of my own and parenting a new life who will open up my mind to a whole new world of fun and creativity. I can’t wait to welcome a child into the big, warm and loving arms of my friends and family. I’m looking forward to being a Dad.

Our Home & Neighborhood

We look forward to sharing our warm and loving home with a little one. We live in a large light-filled apartment in a family friendly neighborhood in Queens, NY. Our home is filled with books, musical instruments (1 keyboard & 8 guitars!), and lots of laughter. Our neighborhood is one of the most diverse in Queens and is safe, quiet and only a short 15 minute subway ride to the center of Manhattan. We are a 45 minute drive to the beaches of Long Island and an hours drive to the mountains. We moved here shortly before we were married with thoughts of raising a family in this welcoming community.

Parks... Our neighborhood is filled with large trees and has three parks within walking distance. There is plenty of room to cater to the many kids in the area with activities for all age groups. The parks are used year around. Kids (and their parents) love the hills for sledding and snowball fights in the winter.

Farmer's Market... a few years ago a Farmer's Market also came to the neighborhood. They have fresh fruit, vegetables, baked goods, and so much more. Every Saturday it's a community event complete with balloon twisters for the kids.
